The well known protagonist in the classic novel Pride + Prejudice by Jane Austin. Elizabeth Bennet has evolved since she first appeared on the pages of this well known and loved novel in 1813. The first time on the big screen in 1940, the well known 1995 BBC series where the focus became more about Mr Darcy played by Colin Firth rather than our beloved Lizzy. Then again, the 2005 adaption starring Keira Knightly. Although varied interpretations, there remains the same characteristics which separate her from the traditional young woman in the era she began, the ability for her audience to relate to the character + easily imagine being her.
Whether you love her or loathe her, Lizzy Bennet is fiercely independent, in her thinking as well as her person, she likes her own company and doesn’t need anyone’s approval apart from perhaps her much adored Father. She is your ideal best friend, loyal, protective, adventurous. The girl you want as your ‘wing man’, not interested in a mans attention but wants people around her to be happy + find love, she’s content to wait + enjoy the ride rather than rush into doing something for anything other than love. She is a romantic + wants love but won’t settle for just anyone. I love this girl - was it hard to pick?
Today, I have her following trends without being a fashion victim, she wears high end brands like Celine, Michael Kors, Maelene Birger + Gucci favouring classic silhouettes + exquisite fabrics. Blending beautiful textures + colours that will always work back with her favourite denim staples. Each season introduces a new piece to build on her very functional, practical yet chic and modern wardrobe. Her capsule wardrobe consists of a blend of labels, Bonds to Bassike, Cotton on to Chloe. Her jewellery is minimalist, classic pieces from Georg Jensen + more recently Holly Ryan or favourites from Natalie Marie collection, on occasions adding bold seasonal pieces from Mimco or Lovisa. Whatever her style is, it's about dressing for herself, having fun combining pieces she loves + experimenting with different looks.
What character are you channelling today?
As soon as I spotted this advertisement, I realised this is how I wanted my 'Elizabeth' to look. Her style would have this relaxed, timeless, yet very cool vibe.
